$38 For 100Mbps Cable, VoIP & 120 TV Channels - DOCSIS 3.0 takes aim at Europe…

Cable has traditionally ruled the broadband roost globally, but in Europe faster DOCSIS 3.0 speeds are helping carriers better compete with phone companies. Cable Digital News has an interesting piece on the latest deals being offered globally by cable carriers. In France (where they implemented a variation of our since discarded local loop unbundling concept) competition is particularly fierce, forcing Num ricable to offer a triple play bundle of 100Mbps cable broadband, VoIP and 120 TV channels for 29.90 (US$38). In the Netherlands, cable operator UPC is offering 120Mbps/60Mbps for 80 per month ($101.65). In Finland, cable operator Welho is offering 100Mbps/10Mbps for 44.90 ($63.41).
